May 3 to Oct 31 On July 3, 2008, Quebec City celebrates its 400th anniversary, making it one of the oldest cities in North America. A plethora of festivities and celebrations will occur throughout the year beginning with a massive New Years party that will include a musical, theatrical and acrobatic extravaganza. A grand birthday bash will be held from July 3 to 6 and the party will eventually come to a close in October with a finale celebration of French culture.

2008 World Hockey Finals May 3 to 18 From May 1 to 18, 2008, Quebec City and Halifax will share hosting duties for the 2008 World Hockey Finals. The Gold Medal game will be held in Quebec City, which will also be in the midst of its 400th Anniversary celebrations. The event also coincides with the International Ice Hockey Federation's centennial anniversary.

The area will feature a thematic pavilion with exhibitions and specialty food concessions, an artists' garden, a covered outdoor theatre, discovery tours of the region, an open-air multimedia show and much more.

Jun 15 to 22 From June 15 to 22, 2008, the 49th International Eucharistic Congress will be held in Quebec City, coinciding with the city's 400th Anniversary celebrations. The congress, whose theme will be "The Eucharist, gift of God for the life of the world", will consist of a number of public events including a closing mass.

Jul 19 to Aug 6 Les Grands Feux Loto-Quebec (Loto-Quebec International Fireworks Competition) takes place at Montmorency Falls Park, which is located 10 minutes from downtown Quebec City. Six countries compete as spectacular displays, which are set to music, are set off with an 83 m (272 ft) waterfall as the backdrop.

Visitors can check out virtual games in the Science Building and learn about the history and cuisine of different cultures in the International Building.
